In each case, we provide information about the pattern that was used to create the quilt. Many of the patterns and books are still available (and we have made a special effort to have them available for sale in the Shop). In those cases in which the books are no longer available from the publishers, we have found that they are readily available from internet sources.

"I purchased this book probably 5 years ago. I’ve wanted to do this quilt for a long time, and when I was given a lot of Batiks, I thought they would be perfect. I was surprised by how masculine the quilt turned out to be. I love the multi-pieced blocks, but decided at 12 that that was enough! Guess how many pieces!"
John's Carpenter's Star

JOHN'S CARPENTER'S STAR

70" × 70"
Pieced by: Carol Bell

I wanted to make him something for his wall that reminded him of ‘home.’ The border fabric is strictly southwest, and Molly quilted pots, bears, and kokopellis throughout the quilt. A Carpenter’s Star was the perfect design, as part of his landscape business is construction."

"My favorite quilt from my 'year of quilting dangerously,' this is made from fabric I 'rescued' from my remnant bin, and violates all of my 'rules' about what I like about quilts. It’s not symmetrical; it’s square. … I learned a lot during my year of not making a single traditional quilt, and amended some of my 'rules'."

In Lesson 5, Perry challenges us to choose a picture or object that inspires us, and then use it as the source for the color scheme in our Trip Around The World quilt.
