Our Informative Quilting and Sewing classes include:
- Basic skills classes: If you’re new to quilting, rest assured you’ll be in good hands with our basic sewing skills classes. No prior experience is necessary. All we ask is that you arrive with a desire to learn about quilting and leave the rest up to us. Our professionals will walk you through the basics about quilting, including the names of the tools required, the different techniques and simple designs to get you started. You’ll be able to quickly build your base of knowledge once you’ve established the fundamentals through our basic skills classes. Basic Skills Classes
- New classes: We are constantly expanding our sewing classes, including adding new classes to the schedule. From novice level classes to ones aimed at seasoned veterans interested in taking their skills up to the next level, you’ll be thrilled by our ever-expanding catalog of courses. New Classes
- Favorite classes: When our students love a certain quilting class, we make sure to keep it on the schedule. Let's Talk about a Hands On Approach to Designing Batiks! Whether you love working with batiks, haven't tried them before, or are just interested in the design process of the fabrics we use in quilting, join Karen Gibbs, Design Director of Batiks for Riley Blake Designs for a fun morning of everything batiks. Karen's background includes designing everything from sweaters, knits and wovens for the apparel industry to designing regular cottons for quilting and finally finding her passion with batiks. She's been designing exclusively batiks for almost 10 years now and loves the challenge of creating each and every colorway. Take a journey with her as she goes through the design process, color applications, choosing factories to work with, production challenges, which all has an impact on those gorgeous batiks! There's lots of content in her presentation, including video, photos, similar to a travel log and of course batik processes--the ones we love, but also those you might be unfamiliar with. This is an informal presentation, with questions encouraged.
