FRQ (Free Range Quilters)

Free range quilting – thinking “outside the box.”  Explore design terms, develop “improv” (improvisational) piecing techniques, and learn starting points toward creating original quilts.  The different exercises are “short and sweet.”   FRQ is configured both for onsite learning, and for remote interaction (via a formal Zoom connection).  The cost is the same for both.  The invitation to attend the Zoom meeting is forwarded to all participants about 24 hours in advance.  Thus, one can. at the last minute, change one’s mind about the method for participating.

Five quilts created in response to the “Italian Fabric Challenge” are shown here.  Rose Dixon brought back an intriguing fabric from Italy; it was the basis for this challenge.  The quilts, clockwise from the top left: Italian Fashion Show, by Jane Ann Bode – her tongue in cheek interpretation; Memories of Italy, by Rose Dixon – based on trip memories; Italian Memories, by Sharon Eastvold; Mosaics, by Donna Schmidt – inspired by mosaics she saw in Italy, and Kandinsky Goes to Tuscany, by Becky Welch – a landscape with pizza trees and lollipop trees.
